Those who love "last minute" should love this week.

Saturday, Dec. 15 is distribution for the annual Davison Care and Share program. A full year of fundraising work — and several weeks of volunteer work collecting other donations — climax this week.

Buses with collections from Davison Community Schools will roll in this week, as will all the goods brought in to The Davison Index, the Missing Sock Coin Laundry and Walgreen’s.

Christmas came early for the Cardinal hockey team when they drew Flushing for their first game of the season, and the first of three games in four days that saw the Cards get a win, a loss and a tie.

This is a down year for Flushing and the Cards had no trouble posting an 11-1 win over the Raiders at Perani Arena Wednesday, Nov. 28.

A walk through the halls of Davison Middle School will help anyone understand what Care and Share is all about.
Students again this year had a contest decorating homeroom doors with the Care and Share theme (accompanied, of course, by a collection of goods for the annual Davison Christmas charity).
The grand prize (breakfast) winners were students in Jan Crawford’s seventh grade class, but others showed great creativity. (A full report of class winners may be found — with color photos — at www.thedavisonindex.com.)

New state election laws and a staff vacation may impact potential candidates in this year’s Davison City Council election. The deadline to file nominating petitions is Tuesday, Sept. 16, but City Clerk Rosemary Simpson is scheduled to begin her vacation Sept. 13. Because of the time to check signatures and a new requirement for candidates to prove U.S. citizenship, Simpson hopes candidates will file early.
